Caption file to YouTube chapters
Your caption file already shows where you pause. Open it, and each long pause becomes a candidate chapter that starts at its first caption. You edit the titles, and the list is checked against YouTube’s three chapter rules before you copy it.
Make chapters from a caption file
Read in your browser; the file is not uploaded. Titles are drafts: edit them before you copy.
3 candidate chapters
- ✓ The first timestamp is 00:00: Starts with 00:00.
- ✓ At least 3 timestamps: Found 3.
- ✓ Listed in ascending order: Each timestamp is later than the one before it.
- ✗ Every chapter is at least 10 seconds: “Export, then check the upload.” (01:52) is 3 seconds long.
What the tool can and cannot do
It finds pauses and copies a caption’s first words as a draft title. It cannot write a title that describes the section, so you do that. YouTube Help sets the chapter rules; this tool checks against them and does not add its own.

Questions

Can the tool write my chapter titles?
No. It copies the first words of the caption at each pause as a draft. Rename each one so it says what that part of the video covers.
Why does the first chapter start at 00:00 when my first caption starts later?
YouTube Help says the first timestamp in a chapter list must be 00:00, so the tool always starts the list there.
Is my caption file uploaded?
No. The file is read in your browser and the chapter list is built there.
